cut, paste, layer, repeat
In 2010, I began the daily exercise of making what I call a "digital mash-up." With no preconceived ideas, I scanned clippings from discarded magazines and played around with them in Photoshop. At first, landscapes and cloudscapes emerged out of the science and travel journals I was sampling. Negative space, such as the coloured backgrounds from advertisements and fashion editorials, led to the generation of minimal abstracts focusing on colour and texture.
